Momentum Health
Overview
Momentum Health is an independent medical scheme, registered under the Medical Schemes Act. The Scheme, created in 2004 through the amalgamation of Pulz and National Medical Plan (NMP), forms part of Momentum’s strategic intent to provide a full range of financial services to our clients. Through rapid growth it has distinguished itself as one of the biggest open medical scheme funders in the country, providing healthcare cover to over 180 000 lives as at December 2009.

Available Options
Momentum Health offers affordable and flexible health cover through six different options and caters for all walks of life. Our philosophy is simple, but effective. We always fund the treatment expenses of our members according to the benefits of the option they selected.
Ingwe Option: Capitation option
The Ingwe Option provides affordable access to entry-level cover at preferred providers. Hospitalisation is available from one of two providers, Ingwe Network (list of private hospitals) or State hospitals, subject to a limit of R900 000 per family per year. Chronic and primary care day-to-day benefits are provided at CareCross or Prime Cure.
Access Option: Capitation option
The Access Option offers hospitalisation at the Access Network of private hospitals. For chronic treatment and day-to-day benefits, such as doctors visits or prescrived medicine, members may choose are available from preferred providers - CareCross, Medicross or Prime Cure
Custom Option
The Custom Option is designed for members who require unlimited private hospitalisation. There is a co-payment of R950 per authorisation on the Major Medical Benefit, except in the case of motor vehicle accidents and maternity confinements. Members have the flexibility to choose their providers – this choice determines the contribution payable.
Incentive Option
The Incentive Option is designed for members who require unlimited private hospitalisation and average day-to-day cover. Members have the flexibility to choose their in- and out-of-hospital providers which determines the contribution payable. This option provides Savings of 10% of the contribution for day-to-day healthcare expenses, which can be supplemented through the HealthSaver.
Extender Option
The Extender Option is designed for members who require unlimited private hospitalisation, as well as extensive chronic cover and day-to-day benefits. Members have the flexibility to choose their in- and out-of-hospital providers which determine the contribution payable.
Summit Option
The Summit Option is designed for members who require unlimited private hospitalisation, as well as extensive chronic cover and day-to-day benefits. Members have the Freedom-of-choice to use any provider.
